BIG news! Thanks to you, on June 30 we’re getting protected bike lanes on Congress Avenue, ALL THE WAY from Riverside to the Capitol!

There’s been an amazing outpouring of support for this:  Over 1500 people have signed our petition, and on June 11, the City Council unanimously approved a resolution directing staff to work on this. And today, the Austin Transportation Department announced that it will be installing the lanes next Tuesday, June 30. Staff will also consider how to make these temporary lanes permanent when social distancing is no longer needed.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to Council Members Kathie Tovo, Leslie Pool, Paige Ellis, Natasha Harper-Madison, and Sabino ‘Pio’ Renteria for co-sponsoring this resolution, and to the Austin Transportation Department for following through. And most important of all, thank YOU for your support!

We’re looking forward to safer biking on Congress next week, and safer biking across the city in the near future.
