Tell us a little about why you’re a bicycle-supporting business and a little about your business, in general.
Birds was born in Austin and with such a strong bicycle culture here, it just happened organically. Many of us are cyclists ourselves and always appreciate bike racks at the businesses we frequent. We also offer a free hair wash to anyone who bikes to Birds, helping to keep cars off the road and enabling our stylists to work with a clean head of hair.
Why did you decide to become a Bike Austin small business member?
If you care enough about the environment and your health to ride a bicycle instead of driving a car everywhere you go, the chances are high that you go out of your way to support local businesses too.
What benefits or positive outcomes do you hope to enjoy as a Bike Austin small business member/partner?
By joining Bike Austin, we’re able to participate in events like Bike to Work day, and help spread the word about civic-minded values we all share.
Why do you think Bike Austin is important to the Austin cycling community?
Austin is growing daily and the traffic situation is going to take years, if not decades, to fix. Being able to do some of your chores or ride to work on a bike is an easy way to do your part to make the city a better place to live. Plus, bike riding is fun and a great way to stay healthy.
Why/how are donations important to Bike Austin’s Advocacy Fund and education programs?
Whether a business is able to write a big check or make an in-kind donation, it’s important to do what you can to support programs that are making a real difference, and Bike Austin is doing just that.
Anything personalized or fun about your experience as cyclists/small business owners and why Bike Austin has made this more possible, empowering, safe, groovy, etc.
Everyone in our family rides a bike and nothing is more fun than going out on an adventure in our city together. We appreciate the work Bike Austin is doing to make where we live more friendly to cyclists one neighborhood at a time.
