Bike Austin Outreach
We know that establishing a world-class network of bikeways, while important, is only part of what’s needed to accomplish our mission of bringing more people to bicycling in the Austin metro. Despite the ease and simplicity of riding a bike, many people face personal barriers that keep them from bicycling. Some just need a little encouragement, but more often it is information that people lack. How do I maintain and fix my bike? Where do I find an affordable bike? What’s the best route to take if I want to commute to work? How do I keep my bike from being stolen?
Through our community outreach, we share tips on smart cycling, safer routes, and community resources that are key for a better experience. Additionally, we educate people about, and build support for, more and better bikeways. Below are ongoing and upcoming events where you’ll find us spreading the bike love.
HOPE Farmers Market (ongoing)
Once a month on Sunday from 11am-3pm at Plaza Saltillo. We set up a pop-up bike stand and info table where we foster the bike movement by helping folks with minor, assisted repairs, talking about local bike issues, and sharing tips on routes and resources with those new to biking in Austin. Visit the HOPE Farmers Market website.
